What a fantastic time we had with the mayor of bled on Monday the 23rd of September.
One of our fellow bond owners Paul Campbell had flown out to bled to stay with us all for the four days while we were in Bled Slovenia on the way to see his son for his holidays.
Paul had been in contact with the mayor of Bled while we were on our journey to get to Bled.
When we arrived at Bled on Sunday 22nd September, Paul was waiting for our arrival. We went straight down to the lake when we arrived to get some pictures of the cars and mainly the car that went to Bled 60 years ago. Claude tipper, a racing driver, automotive artist and motoring journalist drove a Bond Mini Car registration NCK 373 to Bled Slovenia. He in fact completed 5,217 miles touring Europe in that year. Nick and Sandra Mander now own his car.
We had an arrival meal and drinks to celebrate the arrival of our epic journey to get to Bled, Paul had some announcements to make during our meal, one of the announcements was that Paul had been in contact with the mayor of Bled and he would be in contact with us the next day. The mayor had made some lovely postcards for us all which we could all send home from bled to family and friends or to ourselves as a memory and what a lovely gesture too.
The next morning Monday the 23rd September at breakfast we had a visit from the mayor to discuss when we would like to see him, We arranged to meet at the visitors centre in the centre of Bled where the mayor would meet us.
When we arrived the at the visitors centre we were greeted by the mayor and his PA. We had some pictures taken with the mayor and the cars these are for your viewing below, The mayor then explained that he was going to take us to the castle in Bled, We followed the mayor in his car to the castle where they had allocated parking for us which had already been organized for us all. The mayor took us into the castle where he showed us the spectacular views from the castle over the lake and the mountains. The Mayor told us a mindful of information of the history of Bled, the castle and the church.
After looking round the castle of Bled, The mayor had to go to another booked appointment which he left us in the hands of his PA which after the castle we followed her to the lake where we had authority to park in front of the lake where everyone walking past could see the cars, we left the cars by the lake for the afternoon while we had coffee and dinner at a local café shop.
What a spectacular morning we had and what an honour to spend time with the Mayor.
